Friday Favorites

It’s fall, ya’ll!  Cue all the apples, hot tea, comfy sweaters and Fall Harvest on the Hallmark Channel.

I’m hoping that this weekend will bring a mix of productivity and relaxation.  We plan on registering for Baby Watson tomorrow (pray for Big Guy’s sanity and patience) and then Sunday we’ll be watching football (and a Hallmark movie).  No big plans and that is perfectly fine by me.  The rest of our fall is pretty busy so I’m going to enjoy every low-key moment possible.  I hope your weekend is full of things that make you happy!

pizzazzerie-fall-tablescape-06

Favorite Decor:  Orange and Blue Fall Tablescape.  I adore this color combo, obviously (it’s the colors of our living room).  But it’s not “overly fall” and dripping with cheesy pumpkins and seasonal signs.

honeycrisp-apple-pandowdy-6

Favorite Cozy  Honeycrisp Apple Pandowdy.  How delicious does this dessert look?  Drooling.  And a “pandowdy” is apparently an apple pie that’s cooked in a skillet.

leopard

Favorite Comfy:  JCrew Leopard Sweatshirt.  I could live in this top along with jeans and cute flats.  I’m clearly having a leopard moment because I’m obsessed with leopard driving shoes, too.

Favorite Bite:  One-Pan BBQ Ranch Chicken Gnocchi. I’m obsessed with this flavor combination.  Not only that, it looks super easy and you only dirty up one pan.

sub-buzz-29708-1505148276-3

Favorite “THIS IS ME”:  Being Organized is A Gift I Give Myself and Other People.  YES!  AMEN!  YES!  “A lot of people think they are too busy and simply don’t have the time to get organized, but…I don’t have time to not be organized! I’d rather take 20 minutes to get my life in order now than spend 45 minutes looking for my glasses prescription, 10 minutes on the phone with my eye doctor, and three days waiting until I can find the half-hour to go pick up a new copy of it.”

israel_sweet-potatoes-garlic_2000x1500

Favorite Intrigued:  Slow-Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Garlic Labneh.  By slow roasting the potatoes, you bring out the sweetness and they become incredibly tender.  Top with a tangy labneh full of pungent garlic and I’m sold.

blackberry-and-lemon-mascarpone-crostini-2

Favorite “Appy” Hour:  Blackberry and Lemon Mascarpone Crostini.  Beautiful yet simple and perfect for almost any occasion.

garlic-herb-pull-apart-i-howsweeteats-com-11

Favorite Remix:  Roasted Garlic Parmesan Herb Pull-Apart Bread.  A twist on classic garlic bread.  I think I’d pair this beauty with juicy meatballs and lots of sauce.

cider-thyme-tonic-mocktail

Favorite Mocktails:  Brilliant Non-Alcoholc Cocktails Everyone Loves.  Because sometimes when you’re pregnant, you want a little celebration drink (whether you’re celebrating something big or small).  And La Croix doesn’t count.

Cheers!

Friday Favorites

The weekend is here!  I’m heading to the beach a little later this morning for our third annual Flamingo Fling.  That means I’m leaving Big Guy behind and I’m meeting my Momma and sister at the beach for some girl time (aka flamingling).  I’m excited to see them both and imagine there will be lots of “baby” talk while we’re together.  After taking two weeks off from Friday Favorites, I’m back!

crunchy-thai-peanut-quinoa-salad-recipe-4

Favorite Meal Prep:  Crunchy Thai Peanut & Quinoa Salad.  Say hello to my lunch for next week.  I think this would be perfect to prep on Sunday and then eat all week long.

pecanblondies

Favorite Addicting:  Grain Free Salted Chocolate Chip Pecan Blondies.  Ummm, I need these.  Homemade pecan butter gets transformed into bars that look ridiculously delicious.

pink-flamingo-punch-cocktail05

Favorite Sip:  Pink Flamingo Punch Cocktail.  I couldn’t resist.  To make this a mocktail, I’d simply leave out the rum.

Cheers!

Friday Favorites

The snow and ice is finally gone and the high today is in the 70s.  Oh, NC weather, you’re cray-cray.  But I’m going to be honest – I’m pretty pumped about it not being below 32 degrees all weekend.  I’m actually headed to Charlotte today after I teach to hang out with the family for the weekend.  I am so excited to be staying with my sister and her family on Saturday evening so I can have extra time with the kiddos.  Hopefully Haines will let me get a few baby snuggles in from Braxton.  And with that – here are my favorites from the week!

upside-down-winter-citrus-cake-l-p-7

Favorite Bright:  Upside Down Winter Citrus Cake.  How gorgeous is this cake?  Citrus is amazing this time of year.  Hoping to get my hands on some sweet grapefruit and blood oranges soon.

interior-design-decor-reading-nook-12

Favorite Must Have:  Nooks and Crannies:  Tiny, Cozy Spaces to Get You Through Winter.  I want a little nook more than I want my own little office!  I can just imagine myself sipping coffee and reading my devotions in the morning in this quaint little space.  Her round-up is awesome and I honestly can’t pick my favorite!

Favorite Cozy:  Beef Bourguignon Pot Pie.  Julia Child’s beef bourguignon has been on my cooking bucket-list since I saw the movie “Julia and Julia.”  This version of the hearty French dinner sounds incredible.

Favorite Staple:  White Button-Up Shirt.  Every woman’s closet should have a perfect fitting button up shirt.  And I’m on the hunt for the perfect one for me.

Favorite Inspiration:  5 Ways to Detox Your Closet.    Lusting over this amazing closet.

harissameatballs-4

Favorite Flavor:  Harissa Meatballs.  I have harissa paste in my fridge that’s begging for another purpose in life besides taking up space.  Bonus:  These meatballs are healthy!

book-stack

Favorite Truth:  Marriage is a team sport.  A good read no matter how long you’ve been married.

grapefruit-margaritas-i-howsweeteats-com-4

Favorite Craving:  Pink Grapefruit Margarita with Chili Salt.  I haven’t had a margarita in a hot minute despite Big Guy and I talking about how much we want one weekly.  I think it’s because I find is odd to drink margaritas with anything but Mexican-Inspired food.

CHEERS!

{Virtual} Coffee Chat

If we were having coffee this morning…We would probably have to delay our coffee date a couple of hours due to the horrible, no-good, very bad weather.  On Monday evening/Tuesday early morning we got quite a wintry mix.  And it’s made leaving the house impossible.

If we were having coffee this morning…I would tell you all about the new sushi restaurant we tried last Saturday.  Basan recently opened in Durham and it’s owned by the same restaurant group as our beloved Mura.  They had a few of the same menu items but I made sure to order two new-to-me rolls.

If we were having coffee this morning…I would show you our new wine racks.  And yes, I know we have a lot of wine.

If we were having coffee this morning…I would complain about my phone.  I spent a good 2 hours in Verizon on Monday and after I was unable to get my problem solved by them or Apple, the most fantastic Verizon employee ordered me a new phone.  Unfortunately the snow kept it from arriving. (But I also think that I should get an award for stumping the Apple techie.)

If we were having coffee this morning…I would apologize for not being able to recap our incredible dinner at SoCo last Friday night.  While they were trying to figure out what was making my phone sick, they deleted everything.  Yes, everything.  Thankfully I have one picture of our pink bubbles that started our delicious date night.

If we were having coffee this morning…I would tell you that heart=shaped pizza tastes so much better than circle pizza.  (wink wink)

If we were having coffee this morning…I would talk at length about redecorating our living room and entryway.  We’re definitely going with navy (no specific color yet…I’ve been snowed in, remember?).

If we were having coffee this morning…I would show you a picture that is really inspiring the new design.

If we were having coffee this morning…I would let you know that I’m getting a little a lot of help from a friend with the re-design.  (Thanks, Marlo!!!)

If we were having coffee this morning…I would promise to keep you in the loop with how all the changes progress.  Big Guy isn’t the most patient guy when it comes to this kind of stuff but that can be a blessing in disguise at times.  We’ll be checking out paint and wallpaper (yes, wallpaper) first and then we’ll probably try to pick out a rug and a couch.  Exciting stuff!

If we were having coffee this morning…I’d tell you to be safe out there.  (and if you want to take a trip somewhere warmer, just let me know.)  #bringonspring
