I have two requirements for this weekend:  sun and fun.  Should be pretty easy to check those off the list.  I’m also thinking there’s a pizza night in our near future.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  p.s. Be sure to put SUN and FUN on your weekend list, too.

Favorite Round-Up:  18 Grilled Pizzas That Bring Pizza Night Outside.  YES to Grilled Lobster and Corn Pizza with Goat Cheese and Fresh Tomatoes.

Favorite Top:  Moon River Yellow Madeline Top.  How cute is this?  And it would be absolutely perfect for football season (sadly that will be here before we know it).

Favorite “Appy” Hour:  Caprese Burrata Garlic Bread.  This is happening as soon as our tomatoes are ready to come off the vine.

Favorite Sweet and Simple:  Cheesecake for Two.  Only five ingredients.  This would be perfect for date night in.

Favorite Reads:  2017 Summer Reading List.  Jessica and I (yes, we’re on a first name basis) have the same taste in books.  I can’t wait to get my hands on “The Identicals,” “Secrets in Summer,” and “The Sunshine Sisters.”

Favorite Cheese, Please:  Spicy Mexican Mac and Cheese.  I’ve been talking about “trashed up” mac and cheese for MONTHS now.  It’s about time I make it happen.

Favorite Lightened Up:  Turkey Enchilada Stuffed Poblanos Rellenos.  All I can say is “YUM.”  Going on the menu ASAP.

Favorite DIY:  Small Space Vertical Herb Garden.  If we were ever to have a smaller yard space, I could totally see myself wanting to make one of these.  How cute!

Favorite Obsessed:  Greek Nachos.  These look absolutely incredible.  I want it all.

Favorite Vacation:  Piña Colada Punch.  Perhaps I need to add this to my list for the weekend.  Fun. Sun. Vacation in a glass.

Weeks that “start” on Tuesday sure do go by fast!  It’s been a busy week trying to fit five days into four plus tying up a few loose ends for two events (one was last night and one is tonight).  What does your weekend have in store for you?  Tonight we’re co-hosting Supper Club and I’m so excited about the theme, “A Night in Havana.”  Bring on the mojitos!  My brother and SIL plus the babe are staying here the night and I cannot wait to snuggle my nephew a little more.  Saturday is wide open minus teaching at 8am and Sunday is pretty open minus a little gender reveal party we’re attending.  Perhaps I’ll find time to hit the pool and I’m certain I’ll find time to make something amazing in the kitchen and pour myself a glass of wine.  Have a good one, friends!

Favorite Spread:  A Late Spring Cheese Board with Beet Whipped Feta.  A platter of my dreams.

Favorite Layers:  Lemon Poppyseed Cake.  Lemon desserts are one of my favorites.  And it’s so beautiful.

Favorite Advice:  5 Real People on the Small Lifestyle Shifts They Made to Save Money.  Because saving money is easier said than done.

Favorite Weekend:  Chicken Burgers with Jicama and Candied Jalapeños.  I’m not usually a fan of chicken burgers but this looks insane.

Favorite Splurge:  Persifor Women’s Capri Riviera Kilpatrick Dress.  A little pricey considering it’s cotton but I love the print.

Favorite Craving:  Blackened Salmon Caprese Skewers.  I know Big Guy won’t touch these so I might need to fire up my grill pan inside.

Favorite Recipe to Save:  Chocolate Zucchini Muffins with Avocado.  The day will soon come when I’m up to my ears in zucchini…

Favorite Read:  Adulting.  So interesting and I can totally relate.

Favorite Salad That’s Not a Salad:  Spicy Peanut Soba Noodle Salad.  This looks delicious.  I love a good peanut sauce.

Favorite Sipper:  Pineapple Punch with Ginger Beer.  Say “hello” to my Saturday cocktail.

Bring on the three day weekend!  Like I say every year, Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer in my world.  The past few weekends have been quite full and the coming weekends look just as hectic (but fun!) so I’m excited that this weekend doesn’t really involve a lot of plans.  I’m hoping to relax, sneak in some walks and enjoy a crisp glass (or two) of rosé.  I hope your weekend is swell and I’ll see you next week!

Favorite Icy:  Frozen Peaches and Cream Cake.  The perfect summer dessert after a long day in the sun.

Favorite Roundup:  35 Recipes for Your Memorial Day Weekend.  The only place you need to go for food inspiration this weekend.  From appetizers to mains to drinks, Gaby has you covered.

Favorite Curious:  What Your Go-To Breakfast Says About Your Personality.  I eat a lot of yogurt in the mornings.

Favorite “Appy” Hour:  Avocado, Spinach and Artichoke Dip.  This reminds me of the dip I shared yesterday but better because #avocado.

Favorite Intrigued:  Everything I Know About Essential Oils.   My mom has recently gotten interested in essential oils and the more I hear, the more I want to know and the more I want to try.  I’m especially interested in the lemon and the peace and calming oils.

Favorite Bowl of Food:  Tequila Shrimp Taco Salad.  I love everything about this dinner.

Favorite Top:  Ann Taylor Striped Off The Shoulder Ruffle Sweater.  Classic yet fun and perfect for almost any summer occasion.

Favorite Throwback:  Friday Favorites {NOLA edition},  A friend was asking me about restaurants in New Orleans and I couldn’t help but day dream about our trip a little over a year ago.  Weekend trips are one of my favorite things in the whole world.

Favorite Side Dish:  Caprese Pesto Pasta Salad.  I’m really into pasta salads lately so I’m rolling with it and kind of want to make this over the weekend.

Favorite Shaken:  Jam Cocktails.  How fun!  I think I would go for the Blackberry Gin Cocktail.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY (tomorrow) to my BROTHER, TAYLOR!!!!!!

Happy Friday!  This weekend has been a long time coming:  my niece is coming to visit!  We promised her when she turned 5 that she could come spend a weekend with Aunt Emmy and Uncle Chris all by herself and we finally coordinated our schedules so we could make it happen.  We have a fun weekend planned and can’t wait to spend some one-on-one time with my favorite 5 year old.

Here are my favorites from the week:

Favorite Layers:  Chocolate Layered Zebra Mousse Cake.  How fun is this cake?

Favorite Dip:  Curry Hummus.  What a perfect snack.  Or lunch.  Or dinner.

Favorite Tropical:  Hacienda Convertible Gown in Kauai Kisses.  The perfect summer dress in a fun palm print.

Favorite One-Pan Dinner:  Lemon Basil Chicken.  Because sometimes life is crazy and you need easy dinner ideas.

Favorite Carbs:  Breadsticks with Homemade Ranch and Pizza Sauce.  I need a night of nothing except catching up on DVR and breadsticks.

Favorite Spring Cleaning:  5 Strategies for Organizing Your Pantry (And Keeping it That Way).  I love nothing more than organized closets.  And drawers.  And rooms.

Favorite Date Night In:  Seared Scallops with Porcini Mushroom Risotto.   Drooling.  This dinner is begging for a bottle of white wine.

Favorite Purchase:  2017-2018 Simplified Planner.  After years of using the same planner, I’ve upgraded.  I love that every day has it’s own page which means lots of room for LISTS.

Favorite From Scratch:  Homemade Cinnamon Raisin Bread.  I adore cinnamon raisin bread but I’ve never tried to make it at home…

Favorite Poolside Sipper:  Strawberry Gin Lemonades.  Summer is right around the corner!

BIG WEEKEND!  Cinco de Mayo AND “the two most exciting minutes in sports” (aka the Kentucky Derby).  The funny thing is, we’ve declined all parties and gatherings this weekend so that we can just enjoy the weekend without feeling pulled in a million directions.  It’s beyond necessary after a crazy few weekends and some crazy weekends to come.  Don’t worry – we’re still going to have a few tacos and margaritas tonight and tomorrow I’m planning on toasting to the “good life” with a couple of girlfriends while Big Guy plants the garden.  But tomorrow evening and Sunday are going to be OUR hours.  Enjoy your weekend – whatever you may be doing.

Favorite Just Add Bourbon:  Nonnie’s Kentucky Derby Pie.  I’m not a fan of mint juleps (or any bourbon drink for that matter), but throw a shot into a pie and I’m in.

Favorite Unique:  Five of the Craziest Things We’ve Framed Lately.  I saw this on instagram the other day and I’m obsessed.  While we were in Charleston I collected a couple of matchbooks and one of them is darling.  I really want to get it framed.

Favorite Fiesta:  Jalapeño Queso Dip with Spiced Homemade Chips.  No plans tonight?  All you need is some cheese and chips and perhaps a delicious margarita to make it a party.

Favorite Refreshing:  Coconut + Mint Cooling Mineral Mist.  I’m loving my BeautyCounter rosewater spray (I used it post-washing, pre-moisturizing) and this face spray sounds incredible for the hot summer months.

Favorite Spring:  Coconut Flour Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins with Creamy Lemon Icing.  Must make for Big Guy!  I adore baked goods and desserts that are sweet and tart.

Favorite Wanderlust:  Gaby’s Guide to Cabo San Lucas.  Cabo is on the top of my list of places to visit and I love this round-up of places to go and food to eat.  When can I pack my bags?

Favorite Weeknight Dinner:  Crockpot Orange Chicken.  This healthier, lightened up version of one of my favorite Chinese takeout meals looks amazing.

Favorite Crossbody:  J.Crew Edit Bag.  I love cross body bags for travel and shopping – it holds all the necessary items and it frees up your hands.  I think the “frosty blossom” color is perfect for spring and unexpected yet still will match everything.

Favorite Burger Night:  Homemade Brioche Buns.  Warmer weather makes me crave a juicy burger.  But let’s take burger night to a whole new level with homemade buns.

Favorite Spicy:  Cilantro Jalapeño Margarita.  This is happening in less than 12 hours.

This Friday is extra sweet because the only thing standing between me and a little “adult Spring Break” is teaching two classes this A.M.  Whether you’re taking a little time for yourself in the coming week or not, I hope you take the time to remember what Easter is really about.  While I’m the first to gush over being able to wear my white pants and spend the morning dying Easter eggs there’s so much more to this weekend.  He is Risen!

And with that, my favorites from the week:

Favorite Obsessed:  Cadbury Mini Eggs Skillet Cookie.  When it comes to my Easter basket, there’s only ONE candy I want:  a mini bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs.  They are my favorite.  (Don’t worry, Big Guy, I bought you a pack or two to throw into my basket).  This cookie is basically my dream come true.

Favorite Tropical:  Pineapple Ice Molds.  How cute are these?!?!?!

Favorite Festive:  Toasted Sesame Sriracha Deviled Eggs.  I honestly have no intention of making deviled eggs this year…but these are making me want to change my tune.

Favorite Read:  Slightly South of Simple:  A Novel.  This author is compared to one of my absolute favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand.  It sounds like the perfect beach read.

Favorite How To:  Sourdough Bread:  A Step-By-Step Guide for Home Bakers.  This is a fun addition to my “kitchen bucket list” and I love how approachable Jen made it with this tutorial.

Favorite Fun:  Lemon Tree Earrings.  I’ve always loved unique earrings and these are just adorable.

Favorite Dinner:  Roasted Rack of Lamb with Basil-Goat Cheese Sauce.  This will definitely be on the menu soon.

Jones residence - Edina MN

Favorite List:  5 Dream Kitchen Must Haves.   When thinking of a new house, the kitchen is a top priority because of all the time we spend in that room.  I am totally on board with ALL five of these requirements.

Favorite Dinner for One:  Shoyu Ahi Poke.  I cannot want to get my hands on some sushi-grade tuna and make this delightful bowl.

Favorite Cocktail:  Frozen Mimosas.  Or in my world, FroMo.  I don’t think any other explanation is needed.

And here we are, the last day of March.  This past week one of my sister-in-laws popped into town for the night to go to my barre class as well as go to my morning class the next day.  It was such a treat to have her in town and I loved catching up with her on all the happenings in her much-more-exciting-than-mine 20-something life.  I hope to see more of her (plus the other three sisters) soon!  The rest of the week was pretty uneventful minus the fact that I found myself in the middle of a police chase on Wednesday afternoon.  True story.  It was incredibly scary but I drove away unharmed.  I have a full morning of teaching before getting myself ready for a whirlwind weekend in Charlotte.  I hope you all have a fantastic last day of March/first weekend of April and I’ll be back Monday with #WGCcookbookclub – woot woot!

Favorite Inspiration :  11 Outdoor Spaces to Inspire You This Spring.  Lately I find myself daydreaming about our next house (ignore this, Big Guy) and I’m currently obsessed with porches and patios.

Favorite Spring:  Strawberry Salsa.  Spring = Strawberries and I’m really hoping that I can get my hands on a few really juicy ones to make this delightful salsa.

Favorite Flavors:  Caramelized Wild Mushroom Pizza.  Pizza Sundays at home are my favorite,

Favorite Fashion:  Shoulder & Squares.  Love this look from a gal I went to school with growing up.  I’m so ready to pull out my white pants in a couple of weeks.

Favorite Procrastinating:  Do a Supermarket Shop and We’ll Reveal Your Deepest Desire. Apparently I want to be rich.

Favorite Tips:  Anatomy of a Well-Styled Bookshelf.  Once again, daydreaming of my next house.

Favorite Rich and Buttery:  Puff Pastry Donuts.  I workout and eat well during the week so I can splurge on the weekend.

Favorite Life Hack:  How to Get the Lingering Smell of Fried Food Out of Your Kitchen.  You can always tell when we’ve been home all weekend cooking…

Favorite Layers:  Mint Coconut Chocolate Cake.  Quite possibly the best flavor combination ever for a cake.

Favorite Cocktail:  The Ginger Rogers.  Grapefruit + Ginger + Gin.  Super refreshing and super spring-y.
