Hi friends!  Popping in before I head to Charlotte for the weekend to celebrate my sister-in-law, brother and their baby boy that will be arriving in December.  I’m excited to see the family but sad to leave Big Guy behind.  But for a good reason – he’s going to work on getting some things done around the house so that the home reno can start in a matter of weeks.  AHHHH.  It’s getting so real.  That and the fact that his office is currently filled with boxes of baby nursery “stuff.”  I promise I’ll give you a pregnancy post next week but I’m trying to not overload you on stuff that’s really not all that exciting – I’m such a boring pregnant person.  But I’m totally not complaining about being boring.  Back to my favorites from the week and I hope you have the BEST weekend.

Favorite Date Night:  Two Ingredient Pumpkin Pasta with Balsamic Sage Brown Butter Sauce.  I fall twist on pasta night.

Favorite Round-Up:  Leopard Love.  I’m telling you, my leopard obsession is REAL.  I think my favorite is the clutch (for less!) but I’m still on the hunt for leopard driving shoes.

Favorite Intrigued:  16 Outrageous Ice Cream Toppings.  I’m totally on board with bacon + maple syrup but I’m not sure I could do honey mustard pretzels.

Favorite One Pan Meal:  Cinnamon Chipotle Pork Chops.   I adore cinnamon on pork especially in the fall and these would be fantastic for a quick weeknight dinner.

Favorite To-Do:  A Birth Doula Shares Her Hospital Packing List.  We’re not ready to pack our bags yet but I think this is a great list that I’ll revisit in a couple of months.

Favorite Bite:  Parmesan Puffs.  Despite the lack of wine in my life, I still love “appy” hour on Saturday evenings.  These remind me of addictive cheese straws.  YUM.

Favorite Cliff Notes:  How I Got My Baby to Sleep Through the Night.  I’ve been following Julia for a few years and I’ve loved her recent baby posts.  Her and I share views on sleep and schedules and I think she summarized a lot of what I hope to put into practice with this post, including what I learned in “Happiest Baby On the Block” and “BabyWise.”  (And yes, I know that all babies are different and I have no idea what I’m going to get BUT this is my plan.)

Favorite Fall:  Brussel Sprout, Pecan and Blue Cheese Pull Apart Pizza.  This sounds incredible.  I’d probably go light on the blue cheese and add in some goat cheese for a little tang.

Favorite Mocktail:  Pomegranate Cider Punch.  A little something fancy and festive for the upcoming holidays.

Welp, here we are at the end of September.  For once I’m so ready for fall but, as always, the weather doesn’t want to cooperate and feel like fall.  This weekend includes a mix of social gatherings, Pirate football and relaxing.  Let’s hope that Sunday is mostly relaxing. OH, and we received our “design board” for the nursery and I cannot wait to show that to you next week.  Let’s just say that I’m already jealous of my daughter.  I hope you have a FUN, FALL-FILLED weekend.  See you Monday!

Favorite From Scratch:  Mulled Apple Cider Chai French Crullers.  Homemade doughnuts have peaked my interest for years (along with bagels).  But truth by told, my favorite doughnut is a cruller.  These are perfect for fall and I would love to curl up with a cup of coffee on the couch along with a cruller and not a care in the world.

Favorite Lunch:  Chickpea Avocado Salad.  I have totally made a salad like this before.  But this is my reminder to make several on Sunday or Monday for the week ahead.

Favorite Inspiration:  A Bedroom Design Inspired by Tory Burch’s Paris Flagship.  I love the combination of traditional floral with dusty blue and then a POP of fun with leopard. Let’s me honest, I’m simply leopard obsessed.

Favorite Unexpected:  Honey Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Sage and Cayenne.  I adore sweet potatoes but I’ve yet to experiment with savory muffins and sweet potatoes.  Loving this flavor combo.

Favorite Gameday Eats:  Mini Pizza Bites.  Genius!  Crackers are used as the crust and then you simply pile on the traditional pizza toppings.

Favorite Round-Up:  Our Fall Wine List.  First of all, totally jealous of this list.  I miss wine.  But if I were able to indulge, I would let this list broaden my horizons when it comes to “fall wines.”

Favorite Sweet and Savory:  Apple Cheddar Pies.  I love apple pie.  I love cheddar.  I’ve seen the two together in many ways but I’ve never tried it.  I think it’s time to change that.

Favorite Greens:  Kale & Apple Salad with Granola “Croutons.”  This is a prime example of how salads aren’t boring.  Sweet.  Savory.  Crunchy.  Nutty.  Spicy.  YES!

Favorite Short Cut:  Cheaters No Kneed Dutch Oven Sourdough Bread.  I love my dutch oven.  It’s probably my favorite item in the kitchen.  And who wouldn’t enjoy the smell and taste of homemade bread on a chilly fall day with a  bowl of something comforting.

Favorite Twist:  Autumn Moscow Mule. Moscow mules were made for apple cider.  It’s a combo I’ve loved for the fast couple of years.  But I’ve never added a sprig of rosemary.

It’s fall, ya’ll!  Cue all the apples, hot tea, comfy sweaters and Fall Harvest on the Hallmark Channel.

I’m hoping that this weekend will bring a mix of productivity and relaxation.  We plan on registering for Baby Watson tomorrow (pray for Big Guy’s sanity and patience) and then Sunday we’ll be watching football (and a Hallmark movie).  No big plans and that is perfectly fine by me.  The rest of our fall is pretty busy so I’m going to enjoy every low-key moment possible.  I hope your weekend is full of things that make you happy!

Favorite Decor:  Orange and Blue Fall Tablescape.  I adore this color combo, obviously (it’s the colors of our living room).  But it’s not “overly fall” and dripping with cheesy pumpkins and seasonal signs.

Favorite Cozy  Honeycrisp Apple Pandowdy.  How delicious does this dessert look?  Drooling.  And a “pandowdy” is apparently an apple pie that’s cooked in a skillet.

Favorite Comfy:  JCrew Leopard Sweatshirt.  I could live in this top along with jeans and cute flats.  I’m clearly having a leopard moment because I’m obsessed with leopard driving shoes, too.

Favorite Bite:  One-Pan BBQ Ranch Chicken Gnocchi. I’m obsessed with this flavor combination.  Not only that, it looks super easy and you only dirty up one pan.

Favorite “THIS IS ME”:  Being Organized is A Gift I Give Myself and Other People.  YES!  AMEN!  YES!  “A lot of people think they are too busy and simply don’t have the time to get organized, but…I don’t have time to not be organized! I’d rather take 20 minutes to get my life in order now than spend 45 minutes looking for my glasses prescription, 10 minutes on the phone with my eye doctor, and three days waiting until I can find the half-hour to go pick up a new copy of it.”

Favorite Intrigued:  Slow-Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Garlic Labneh.  By slow roasting the potatoes, you bring out the sweetness and they become incredibly tender.  Top with a tangy labneh full of pungent garlic and I’m sold.

Favorite “Appy” Hour:  Blackberry and Lemon Mascarpone Crostini.  Beautiful yet simple and perfect for almost any occasion.

Favorite Wanderlust:  These Destinations Should Be On Your Fall Travel List.   From Boston to California to China, this list has a little something for everyone.

Favorite Remix:  Roasted Garlic Parmesan Herb Pull-Apart Bread.  A twist on classic garlic bread.  I think I’d pair this beauty with juicy meatballs and lots of sauce.

Favorite Mocktails:  Brilliant Non-Alcoholc Cocktails Everyone Loves.  Because sometimes when you’re pregnant, you want a little celebration drink (whether you’re celebrating something big or small).  And La Croix doesn’t count.

Well that was a fast week!  I’m excited to say we have NO plans tonight and NO plans Sunday, except for church.  I told Big Guy I was going to be as lazy as humanly possible on Sunday afternoon.  HAH!  Tomorrow I’ll be cheering on the Pirates and I really hope they give me a reason to cheer.  I’d rather not deal with an unhappy Pirate (not naming any names).  And while I wasn’t overly inspired by the internet this week (my brain is on the baby’s nursery) here are a few fun finds while I finish up tailgate prep!  Enjoy your weekend.

Favorite In Season:  Classic Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with Fresh Figs, Pistachios and Honey.  Behold one of the prettiest cheesecakes I ever did see.  I’m obsessing over the graham cracker and walnut crust.

Favorite Game Day:  Peplum Tee in Yellow.  This shirt looks so comfy.  Pair it with some jeans and I’ll be tailgate ready.

Favorite Super Simple:  Toasted Gnocchi with Herb Brown Butter.   This has Friday night date night in written all over it.  Simple yet delicious and I can use lots of herbs from the garden while they’re still kickin’.

Favorite Inspiration:  I Started a Dinner and It Changed My Life.  I love entertaining with a small group of friends at home.  And while we’re a part of a HUGE supper club that meets at the country club, I’d love to start something on a smaller scale where we actually do the cooking.  This post has some great menu ideas and makes me want to start planning.

Favorite From Scratch:  Giant Grain Free Pumpkin Pop-Tart with Cinnamon Maple Glaze.  Anyone else out there grow up LOVING the brown sugar and cinnamon glazed pop-tarts?  Well this looks like the grown up, “healthier” version and I’m scheming to make it part of an upcoming weekend.

Favorite Bucket List:  Maine Travel Diary. Mark my word, I’m going to convince Big Guy to take me to Maine in the next five years so that I can eat my weight in lobster rolls and potato doughnuts.

Favorite Dinner Time:  The Easiest Healthy Black Bean and Chicken Enchiladas with Roasted Sweet Potatoes.  These look incredible!  Totally adding to the meal plan soon.

Favorite Advice:  Want to be a happy parent?  Give up these 15 things to find joy.  My favorite:  No such thing as a perfect parent. Embrace your imperfections. Laugh at yourself. The best parents are willing to always learn, change and improve.

Favorite Sinful:  Grain-Free Omega-3 Fudgy Walnut Skillet Brownies.  These may look devilish but they’re full of healthy stuff, too.  But it might be sinful if I ate the whole skillet by myself…

Favorite Next Year:  September Sangria.  This obviously isn’t happening this month but I promise it’ll make an appearance a year from now.

Good morning, friends!  To say I’m excited about this coming weekend is an understatement.  Yesterday was our BIG 18-week anatomy scan/ultrasound and on Sunday, along with our families, we will find out if we’re having a boy or a girl.  Any guesses?  To be honest, I’m just relieved that Baby W looks healthy and was incredibly active yesterday morning at our appointment.  The reveal plus a recap of the past several weeks will be on the blog early next week.  So while I’m trying to occupy my thoughts with anything other than “pink” or “blue,” here are my favorites from the week!

Favorite Breakfast:  Cherry Pecan Muesli.  Breakfast is a MUST for me.  This oat mixture would make delicious overnight oats for those mornings when I need breakfast ASAP.

Favorite Inspiration:  The 10 Most Organized Drawers on the Internet.  If money were no issue and The Container Store was closer, I would probably organize my heart out.  And the food storage container drawer is probably something most households need.

Favorite Healthy:  The Best Detox Broccoli Cheese Soup.  The cooler mornings are making me crave a little bit of fall.  This soup looks divine and it’s such a tease – because there’s no cheese used at all!  Would love to have this as leftovers for quick lunches.

Favorite Chewy:  Levain Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I’ve got cookies on the brain lately.  Come on, you can’t tell me that doesn’t look delicious.

Favorite One Size:  Capri Swing Sweatshirt.  I love a good striped shirt and with a one size fits most tag, perhaps I could actually wear this throughout the fall and into the winter.

Favorite Round-Up:  125 of My Favorite Recipes for Football Season!  Football Food!  Ya’ll know I like football because of the tailgate and this year more than every I like the tailgate because of the food.  Go ahead, Big Guy, browse the recipes and make some requests!

Favorite Happy Baking:  Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake with Pecan Praline Glaze.  So simple yet a showstopper.  I would love to make this cake to share with others.

eFile Scanner Printing

Favorite Color:  Aquamarine.  So Big Guy’s old office will become the new guest bedroom as we do a few home renovations before baby.  The room is painted “toffee” currently.  Yesterday I randomly had the idea to paint it in a color similar to “Balmy Seas.”

Favorite Flavors:  Toasted Coconut Paleo Banana Bread Muffins.  Banana + Coconut = Perfection.  I need to make a batch for these for snacks and mayyyybe I’ll share with Big Guy.

Favorite Make it Virgin:  Moscow Mule Float.   Moscow Mules get an upgrade with a scoop of lime sherbet.   And to make it virgin yet still delicious, simply leave out the vodka.

(and if you’re in the path of Irma – STAY SAFE!!!!)

Happy Friday, friends!  I hope everyone had a wonderful week.  Mine was quite busy but that’s not a bad thing.  On Wednesday afternoon I went in for my 16 week “heartbeat check” and all is well on the baby front.  Baby Watson has one strong heartbeat.  Crazy to think we’ll find out if it’s a boy or girl in a little over two weeks.  Enough baby talk – I’ll save that for a recap post.  Instead I hope you fill your last full weekend of summer with all things wonderful.  The weather is supposed to be glorious here (hello, break from the 102 degree heat index and humidity) and we’ll probably spend a lot of the weekend outside enjoying the sunshine.  Oh, and we also have a pasta date night at home planned.  Here are my favorites from the week!

Favorite Summer Salad:  Peach, Melon, Basil and Burrata.  How glorious does this look?

Favorite From Scratch:  5-Minute Salted Pecan Cinnamon Nut Butter.    It’s very rare that I go a day without some of my beloved nut butter.  And this combo of pecans and coconut is screaming my name.

Favorite 3pm:  Cinnamon Almond Flour Bread.  So I want this bread slathered with the above nut butter.  And that would be afternoon snack perfection.

Favorite Travel Guide:  A Local’s Guide to Nantucket.  I’ve read so many books that take place in Nantucket over the years that it’s officially been added to my travel bucket list.

Favorite Meal Prep:  Chipotle Chicken Bowls with Cilantro Lime Quinoa.  It was so nice to have a batch of chicken salad in the fridge this past week for easy lunches and dinners.  This crock-pot (see adaptation at bottom of recipe) friendly recipe would be perfect to have on hand for busy days.

Favorite Sweet Tooth:  Almond Butter Cups with Sea Salt.  The perfect after-dinner bite to satisfy my craving for dessert.

Favorite Find:  NVH – Nantucket vs. Hamptons.  I have a new print obsession.  I love this print and this print.  And I think this clutch was made for me.

HyperFocal: 0

Favorite End of Summer:  Sweet Corn and Basil Pizza.  I’m holding on to summer with this flavor packed pizza that would be perfect for an upcoming Sunday.

Favorite Flirting with Fall: Vegan Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars.  I know, I know – I just said I was holding onto fall.  But I can’t help but secretly want to make these no-bake, almost-healthy dessert bars.

Favorite Mocktail:  Watermelon Lemonade.  We have a watermelon in our fridge that is meant to be made into a refreshing sipper.  And while I 100% miss my wine and cocktails, it’ll all be worth it come February.

Friday Favorites

How is it that there are only two weekends left of summer (summer ends when football season begins in my world)?  I’m not sure if it’s because I felt like I was in “hiding” for the months of June and July or if it’s because I’m just getting older.  Regardless, this summer went by so fast.  This weekend we’re soaking up some of the last moments of summer and hoping to check a few items off of my 2017 Summer Bucket List.  I’m not going to stress if I’m not able to check off everything but I do want to squeeze every drop that’s left in our summer.

Whenever your summer comes to an end in your mind, I hope that you have the best weekend with friends and family doing all the things you love.

Favorite Chill Out:  Potato Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches.  There’s just something about sweet and salty desserts that make me go nuts.  In a good way.

Favorite Meal Plan:  Thai Skillet Pork Chops with Coconut Rice.  Big Guy would LOVE this dinner.  He’s obsessed with thick pork chops and adored the coconut rice that I made last weekend.

Favorite Closet Update:  Ruffled Bolero Kimono.  I feel like I’m in a weird holding period with clothes.  I’m not quite sure when I’m going to “pop” nor do I know how our “fall” weather is going to pan out this year.  This kimono would be perfect for a growing belly but could also be worn next fall.

Favorite Tailgate:  BBQ Pulled Pork Rolls.  I’m so not ready for football season – but ready or not, it’s coming.  These savory rolls would be amazing for pre-game shenanigans.

Favorite Condiment:  How to Make Tzatziki.  If you haven’t mastered this Greek sauce, now is your chance.  I whipped up a batch to take to a friend this week and I wanted to sit there with some cut up veggies and pita and just eat it all.

Favorite Look:  Dreamy Blue Bath.  While we are hoping to start a few home renovations in the next few weeks, we are not redoing our guest bath.  However, I’m obsessed with this blue tile and the Greek key mirror.

Favorite Brunch:  Coffee Cake Cinnamon Rolls.  Yes.  Cinnamon Rolls topped with all the deliciousness of a coffee cake crumble.  Oh, to wake up to the smell of these baking.

Favorite Craving:  3-Cheese Everything Spice Grilled Cheese.  I haven’t had a lot of weird pregnancy “happenings.”  In fact, I feel pretty normal.  But grilled cheese has sounded amazing since the first couple of months.  And if you haven’t tried the Everything Spice from Trader Joe’s – stop what you’re doing now and go get it.

Favorite Holding Onto Summer:  Boozy Strawberry Peach Slushies.  Strawberries and peaches scream summer.  So do frozen drinks.  Especially when you’re drinking them on a beach.
