Happy Friday!  I’m feeling much more inspired by the internet this week.  I think it has something to do with the 70 degree weather here and it feeling like Spring.  Y’all know my aversion to winter. (shutter)  We’re having our usual low-key Friday night with dinner + DVR.  I teach on Saturday morning and then I’m hoping Big Guy will join me on a long walk.  I’m not quite sure what Saturday will hold but my sister, brother-in-law and the three kiddos will be here Saturday evening and I’m so excited to see them all.  It’ll be pizza for the kids and then a fun dinner for the adults.  Sunday is supposed to be a little cooler but I know we’ll enjoy our “day of rest” after having breakfast with our overnight guests (I’ve promised them cinnamon rolls and bacon!).  Have the best weekend ever and I’ll see you Monday!

Favorite Bag Lady:  Hat Attack Embroidered Clutch in Cocktail.  Ummm, how adorable is this?

Hey friends!  I hope you all had a great week.  I’m so excited that my parents are coming to visit us this weekend.  We have some fun meals planned for them and my mom and I will be doing a few “arts and crafts” for my sister-in-laws upcoming baby shower.  Being the oldest of four, it’s rare to get one-on-one time with your parents for more than a few hours so I really cherish the moments when they make the trip east to see us.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you next week!

Favorite Unexpected:   Creamy Polenta with Roasted Beets.  What a fun combination of flavors and colors!  I could totally see us having this for a low-key Friday night dinner.

Favorite Snack Attack:  Healthy No-Bake Cookie Dough Bites.  I actually have all the ingredients for these little nuggets in the kitchen right this moment…

Favorite Non-Food Item:  Milo Bubble Vase.  Like I said last week, the WWW has been quite uninspiring this month.  BUT I do love this vase.  I find it hard to put just a few flowers into a large mouth vase and this one is perfect. (p.s. it’s really affordable, too)

Favorite Girls Night:  Poke Bowls with Sesame-Soy Almonds.    I could not pay Big Guy to eat this meal with me.  However, I have a friend or two who would devour this deliciousness right alongside me.

Favorite Small Bite:  Rosemary Pineapple Mozzarella Bites.  I feel like this appetizer would be perfect for so many occasions.  Cocktail hour…baby shower..a plate by yourself…

And another Friday has arrived.  It’s the first Friday in February and apparently we have 6 weeks of winter left (he’s only correct 40% of the time so there’s still hope) so I’m experiencing extreme wanderlust to somewhere warm right about now.  This weekend will be pretty laid back – I teach tomorrow morning and then we’re cooking dinner with friends Saturday evening.  Sunday will be full of not-so-healthy eats and watching commercials plus the halftime show.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Favorite Round-up:  22 of My Favorite Super Bowl Recipes.  Still need ideas for the big game on Sunday?  Look no further than this list.

Friday!  Today is an incredibly busy day but knowing that Big Guy will be home for dinner gives me something to look forward to.  Tomorrow will start bright and early to teach Saturday Sweat and then a private client AND THEN the weekend will officially start.  We have a mix of glamorous and totally chilling out on the agenda and I’m looking forward to every moment of both.  Here are my favorites of the week:

Favorite “Appy” Hour:  Prosciutto Wrapped Brie Bites with Rosemary Crusted Walnuts.  Sweet.  Salty.  Nutty.  Creamy.  Earthy.  EVERYTHING.

Favorite On The Side:  Sriracha Almond Butter Roasted Brussels Sprouts.   Um, these sound amazing.

Favorite Fascinating:  “Have You Ever Heard The Term ‘Piss Poor?'”    I have no idea if all of these are true but it’s interesting to read where some popular says and terms come from.  Like “it’s raining cats and dogs,” “don’t throw the baby out with the bath water,” and “bring home the bacon.” <— one of my favorites

Favorite Stuffed:  Slow Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Spicy Garlic Chickpeas and Blue Cheese Sauce.   Oh man.  The only thing that would make this even more amazing – bacon.

Favorite Comfort Food:  Caramelized Fennel Mac ‘n Cheese.  I still haven’t made a trashed up mac ‘n cheese.  SOON!  And I say “trashed up” in the most loving way.

The snow and ice is finally gone and the high today is in the 70s.  Oh, NC weather, you’re cray-cray.  But I’m going to be honest – I’m pretty pumped about it not being below 32 degrees all weekend.  I’m actually headed to Charlotte today after I teach to hang out with the family for the weekend.  I am so excited to be staying with my sister and her family on Saturday evening so I can have extra time with the kiddos.  Hopefully Haines will let me get a few baby snuggles in from Braxton.  And with that – here are my favorites from the week!

Favorite Bright:  Upside Down Winter Citrus Cake.  How gorgeous is this cake?  Citrus is amazing this time of year.  Hoping to get my hands on some sweet grapefruit and blood oranges soon.

Favorite Craving:  Pink Grapefruit Margarita with Chili Salt.  I haven’t had a margarita in a hot minute despite Big Guy and I talking about how much we want one weekly.  I think it’s because I find is odd to drink margaritas with anything but Mexican-Inspired food.

It’s the last weekend before Christmas. (!!!)  Big Guy is done traveling until 2017.  (!!!)  We only have ONE commitment this weekend.  (!!!)

All the !!!!!!!! today.  I cannot tell you how pumped I have for a weekend at home.  We have supper club tonight and the rest of the weekend is going to be spent enjoying our beautiful Christmas tree, burning our Christmas candles, baking Christmas cookies and watching Christmas movies.  I have all intentions of making this weekend the most stress-free, relaxing weekend possible this time of the year.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend – whether you’re attending Christmas parties or finishing up your Christmas shopping, don’t rush through your days.  Enjoy every moment – even if the calm ones are few and far between.

Favorite Magical:  Candy Cane Crunch Cake.  This is the cake of my dreams.

Favorite Want:  Driving Loafers.  Last weekend I spotted a lady (or girl…I don’t know what to call us 30-something people any more) wearing driving loafers with cuffed skinny jeans.  It looked so effortlessly put together and I immediately began hunting for a pair.
