When I think of summer I think of the beach, flip-flops, the smell of sunscreen, pineapple cocktails and burgers.
This past weekend we indulged in almost all of the above – instead of the beach we headed to the pool and we had a twist on a burger. We put all your favorite burger components on a pizza crust. And it was amazing.
I opted to use our favorite no-fail pizza crust recipe from Jessica instead of the recipe for the thin-crust dough that was in the original recipe.
And then we piled on the burger, I mean, pizza, I mean, burger toppings:
Pizza sauce (instead of ketchup)
Cooked and crumbled ground beef
Mozzarella for ultimate cheesiness
Pepper Jack cheese for a little KICK
Bacon, cooked and crumbled – because bacon makes everything better
Thinly sliced red onion
Pickles – lots and lots of pickles
The pizza was baked until the crust was browned and cooked through and then I sprinkled on some salad (aka parsley).
You can’t go wrong with a pizza.
And you can’t go wrong with a burger.
So you obviously can’t go wrong by combining the two.
