Simple Chocolate Truffles

I feel like I haven’t shared a sweet treat in quite a while!  Truth be told, I don’t bake or cook a lot of desserts.  We typically save dessert for special occasions or when we’re dining out.  But for our ladies get together on Saturday, I wanted a little something sweet to end the meal.  We had a lemon cake and I made some simple chocolate truffles.

These are not difficult to make but they are a little messy.  So take your rings and bracelets off before rolling the truffles.

These little bites of chocolate are intensely rich but you only need one truffle to cure your sweet tooth.

The best part – you only need 5 ingredients and one of those ingredients is salt.

Melt the heavy cream, salt, and bittersweet chocolate over medium heat until super smooth.  Once smooth, transfer to a glass dish and refrigerate until firm – about an hour or so.

Once firm, scoop about 2 teaspoons of the chocolate and roll into a ball with your hands.  This is where it gets a little messy.  Once all are rolled, toss in the mixture of cocoa powder and a little sprinkle of cayenne (totally optional).

There you go!  That’s how simple it is.
