Wedding Wednesday, #bellwatson427

Posted on

Oh y’all!  The past few weeks have been a fairy tale.  From the week leading up to the wedding – full of family and preparation to the honeymoon – relaxing and reliving the April 27th, life has been bliss.  I have so much to share and Wedding Wednesday will continue (perhaps on other days, too) so that I can wrap up all the details I haven’t shared.  I cannot wait to see the photographers pictures because I know that I missed so much at the reception.  But on Instagram, I used #bellwatson427 so that I could see pics as people posted them.  So here are some of my favorite Instagram pictures that other people captured, in no particular order…

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Week is Here!

Posted on

After 15 months of planning, we are down to 3 days before the big day!  There are so many emotions going on but most of all I’m excited.  My family began to arrive in town yesterday and I can’t wait to spend the whole weekend with those that mean to the most to me and Chris.

Wedding Week!!!!

We’re simply tying up any loose ends this week and hopefully by Thursday afternoon we’ll be confident enough to throw our feet up and relax (wishful thinking?).

My sister arrives this evening and tomorrow her and my Momma will have one last moment of pre-wedding pampering with manicures and pedicures.  We went before my sisters wedding (just the three of us) and so it seems only fitting to do this same for me.  My Momma and my sister are my rocks and they’ve listened to all my stress, complaints and just complete insanity for the past 15 months 30 years so it’ll be nice to have that time of pampering – just the three of us.

I know that there will be some things that come up that need to be done last minute but I am going to just enjoy every single moment from now until “last call” at the reception.  I know that it’s going to be an amazing weekend and I can’t wait to share with you all the memories post-wedding!!!!

Wedding Wednesday, 10 days.

Posted on

Big Guy and I will say “I do.” in 10 days.  That means we’re in the single digits tomorrow.  Holy cow.  It seems like just yesterday I was picking out my wedding dress.  And next week my Momma picks up the dress for the last time.  What an incredible journey it’s been.

On Monday we got our marriage license paperwork.  Now all we need is the pastor’s signature and two witnesses.  It’s real, y’all!

There are little things that need to be completed, but for the most part all is said and done.

My To-Do List:

  • Wrap wedding party gifts
  • Anything Momma Bell tells me to do

Yep, that’s it.

I have written a Wedding Wednesday for over a year now (minus one week) and I can’t believe it’s coming to a close.  Don’t worry, post wedding I’ll catch everyone up on the events leading up to the wedding the week of plus all things reception.

April 27th is going to be the best day ever.

Wedding Wednesday, Random edition.

There is no rhyme or reason to anything in this edition of Wedding Wednesday.

1.  My Momma deserves “Mother of the Year.”

2.  I’m praying the “Mother of the Year” doesn’t lose it while tying up the lose ends over the next couple of weeks.

3.  We’re currently working on getting the programs printed.

programs in progress

4.  Who knew it would be so hard to find a microphone with a portable speaker.  I hope the guests can hear the us say “I do.”

5.  202.  Final head count.  If you didn’t RSVP, don’t show up.

seriously.

6.  Big Guy claimed he was having an “anxiety” attack yesterday.

7.

amen.

8.  The forecast for my bachelorette weekend looks fantastic!

9.  We got an email confirming our stay for the honeymoon and asking for our arrival itinerary.  Now THAT made me happy.

10. But in all honesty, no matter what :

Wedding Wednesday, the 6th grade sway.

Posted on

There are only 3 weekends between now and April 27th.  Three!  And one of those is my “hen” party.  So that leaves TWO weekends.  Oh my.

Well this weekend we have a major task to accomplish.  Choosing our first dance song.  We’ve talked about it before but it’s crunch time and we must make a decision.

I would love to waltz but I think we’ll be doing the 6th grade sway.

So, Big Guy, grab a cocktail ’cause Saturday night isn’t over until we’ve chosen a song.

Any and all suggestions are welcome…

Burying Bourbon

Posted on

This post is totally Wedding Wednesday material but I got a lot of confused reactions to us “burying bourbon” yesterday that I thought I better take the time to explain.

I have been a long-time follower of Southern Weddings magazine.  I used their website and print magazine for inspiration throughout the wedding planning process.

Southern Weddings Magazine is the South’s premier publication for the modern bride. The Southern Weddings blog, updated daily, highlights the best in real Southern weddings and Southern-style event details from around the country; shares behind-the-scene details from the making of a magazine with a fresh, fun, and fabulous staff of women; and celebrates the best that Southern culture has to offer.

A while back, I stumbled across a post on a Southern Wedding tradition of “Burying the Bourbon.”  So that’s just what we did yesterday.

Burying Bourbon

Southern folklore says that if you bury a bottle of bourbon at the site where the bride and groom are to be married, then it won’t rain on their wedding day. According to many believers, this must be done exactly one month before the wedding, the bottle must be completely full and it must be buried upside down in order for it to keep the rain away.

And if it does rain, Big Guy and I will be digging up the bottle of bourbon and I shall drink it until I don’t care that it’s raining (wink wink).

One Month

Posted on

One month (31 days) from today Big Guy and I will say “I do.”  Can you believe it?  Most of the planning is done and now it’s just a matter of tying up loose ends and just enjoying this last month of our engagement.  I’m going to be a married lady in a matter of weeks.  Craziness.

To Do List:

  • Finalize the ceremony programs and have them printed.
  • Marriage license!!!
  • Final dress fitting.
  • Wrap all the gifts for our wedding party.
  • Call the guests that didn’t RSVP.
  • Confirm honeymoon travel plans.

Now there are obviously a other little things that need to be done but those are the main things.  This is real, y’all!!!!

Wedding Wednesday, Celebrate!

celebrate 016

Celebrate we will!  This past Saturday night, we were the “guests of honor” at a party in Lumberton.  We are so blessed that Chris’ parents friends love them enough to want to host a party to celebrate us.  Not only was it great to see people we haven’t seen all year but my parents loved putting faces with names that they’ve heard over the years.  To say we had a blast is an understatement.  The company was fun, the (live) music was such a great touch and the food was delicious (especially those lamb chops!).  Here are some pics from the par-tay…

A HUGE thank you to all the folks that put so much thought into the party.

But the celebrations don’t end there…this weekend is my bridal shower (kitchen themed) and I’m soooooooo excited!!!!  Can’t wait to share more on that next week.

Wedding Wednesday, Bridal Portraits.

Posted on

The past two weeks have been full of wedding “stuff”!  Last Thursday, we went on a “walk through” at the venue with my Momma, the wedding coordinator and the guy that “runs the show” at Rose Hill.  Basically, we went through the timeline and asked 284 questions.  Thankfully we got a lot of answers to those questions.

One topic of discussion was the “rain plan.”  From the beginning, my Momma has told me that if I am going to have an outside wedding, I’m not allowed to cry if it rains.  I don’t want to think about it raining on April 27th but it’s a possibility.  Thankfully April rains are usually showers and come and go quickly.  But I’m going to cross every finger and toe and pray that the rain holds off.  We do have a back-up plan, I just don’t want to go that route.  We can’t really do much about it now – we’ll look more closely at the weather forecast starting 10 days before the wedding.

But some good news!!!  See the picture above?  Well, on the left side of the house there was (and I repeat, WAS) a tree that was right in the middle of where we wanted guests to be seated.  Jokingly we discussed how we could get rid of that tree but must to our surprise, it was gone last week!!!!  The owner of the property “gave in” and got rid of the eye sore.  I think Momma was the most excited of us all.

Months ago we scheduled my bridal portraits for March 5th.  We chose that date because there was a chance it could be nicer outside than it would be in January but it’s also far enough in advance that I can have a portrait displayed during the reception.  Well, the weather did not cooperate yesterday.  My photographer sent me an email on Monday asking if I wanted to reschedule.  After considering my options, I decided that rearranging the dates of the portraits involved way too much and I just needed to stick with the original date.  There was rain yesterday.  Lots of rain.  I was unable to walk around the property like we did for our engagement pictures but I am thankful that Rose Hill is beautiful enough inside to get some great photos.  We also took a lot on the front porch since it’s covered.  Brrrrr.

It was so much fun to have a “trial” run yesterday.  I had my hair done and my make-up was perfect.  I was able to see what I’m going to look like in less than 2 months and it was wonderful.  We had a few glitches but I’d rather have had them yesterday than the “real” day.

I am so thankful that my Momma was able to join me yesterday.  I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.  Not only does she keep us organized but I know I can count on her for anything.  And for that, I can never repay her.

Let’s hope that rain on during your bridal portraits means lots of sunshine on April 27th!!!!
