This past weekend was super productive as far as wedding planning goes. I guess that’s what happens when you send the groom-to-be away and your Momma comes to town. On Friday afternoon, we hit the road and headed to Raleigh to finalize the bridesmaid dress selection. I’ve had my heart set on one particular dress since day one.
It was love at first sight. Even Big Guy flipped through a magazine (yes, he’s guilty) and pointed out that he liked this dress. Perfect. Or so I thought.
We walked into the store on Friday and we had the place to ourselves. The associate pulled out the dress and a dress in the color “firecracker”. It was not what I thought. I was bummed. But I decided I’d go ahead, have them try on the dress and see what Maggie, Leann and my Momma thought. Leann arrived and as soon as she saw it she voiced that it wasn’t what I was looking for. And she was right. The dress would have looked great. But I want my bridesmaids to feel gorgeous at my wedding. I want them to be comfortable and beautiful. The dress was almost iridescent. Not at all like what the magazine portrayed: clean and soft.
Despite being majorly bummed, I brushed off the feeling and decided to be positive. I knew there was David’s Bridal in town – so off we went, battling Friday, 5pm traffic in Raleigh. (Thanks to Maggie, Momma and Leann for doing this – and Haines, poor little thing just wanted out of the car.)
I knew that David’s Bridal had a dress that was very similar to the “dream” dress but it was a satin-looking fabric in the picture. I put my name on the list – and we went exploring ourselves. And we found “the one.” It is everything I wanted in a bridesmaid dress. The color “guava” is absolutely perfect – looks exactly like the color in my “dream” dress and the fit is flawless. Maggie and Leann were stunning in this number. Though David’s Bridal was a bit chaotic, I found what I set out to find.
It may not have gone as I thought – but it’s better than I expected in the end.
Kind of like life, huh?

I love W.W. blogs! I’m glad things worked out for you w/ the bridesmaid dresses…I’m sure everyone will look stunning, but you most of all!! I can’t wait for your and Big Guy’s BIG DAY!!! Yipeeee!
xoxo
Thanks, Carie. 283 more days…not that I’m counting or anything.
Just a little chaotic but at least we were amused through the process
Thank the good Lord I had you and Maggie to help ease my worries…and yes, chaotic but a great night! xoxo
Love the dress!
I loved YOU in the dress. =)
