Delicious, easy and yes, packaged.

Posted on

As much as I love making dinner from scratch, sometimes packaged foods save the night.  Sometimes life happens.  Sometimes you just need easy.

Sometimes you just need bacon.  We had decided that one night we would do sausages with onions and peppers.  But while picking up groceries at HT on Sunday (we went to the big city of Wilson to do some shopping) we ran across chicken sausages with pineapple and bacon and we knew we needed to introduce these nuggets sausages to our dinner plate.

Big Guy threw the sausages on the grill and I was in charge of the peppers and onions.  Homegrown peppers, might I add.  So we’re not that lazy for having a pre-packaged dinner.  Well, except that the fries on the side were packaged, too.  Thank you, Alexia.    These are one of my favorite packaged/frozen foods available.  They’re better (and healthier) than most french fries you’ll find in fast food joints and they only take minutes in the oven.

Served on my “Princess Emily” place mat.  I’m so mature.  And since I’m a kid, mustard and ketchup for dipping!

A delicious, easy and yes, packaged, dinner.  These sausages were fantastic. You really could taste the sweet pineapple flavor and a subtle smokiness from the bacon.  Bacon rules.  I simply adore sauteed peppers and onions.  And I have to admit, homegrown peppers are ten times crunchier than those I get at the store.  The best bites were a pairing of the tender, melt-in-your-mouth onions with the smoky-sweet sausage that was cooked so perfectly it snapped when you took a bite.  And well, the fries were devoured.  A little crispy on the outsides, super tender on the inside.  And guess what – they’re not covered in grease.  Win for the pre-packed fries.
