Last night I had breakfast for dinner! I’ve mentioned before that waffles always trump pancakes but I’ve been wanting to try protein pancakes for a while and figured that a “single-girl” dinner would be the perfect opportunity. Besides, we all know I’m having waffles for breakfast tomorrow morning.
I don’t see myself making things on a week day morning because you have to do some measuring and I’m usually pretty hungry once eatin’ time comes around. But they were a perfect light breakfast last night. I used gluten-free flour but you could always use any whole-grain flour. And Aria is the protein powder that I have in the pantry currently. It’s from Trader Joe’s and I think it’s pretty tasty.
Mix it all up and cook like regular ole pancakes.
Let’s be honest. The best part of pancakes: the toppings.
Pancakes! One with 1 tablespoon maple syrup and the other with 1 tablespoon Barney Butter.
Trader Joe’s AB trumps Barney Butter.
Speaking of pumped up…let’s talk exercise for a minute. I promise to be brief.
I occasionally get asked “What’s the best workout?” The answer is simple: Whatever you will do. If you love to run, run. If you’re more of a walker, walk. If you like to dance, shake your booty. If you don’t like it, you won’t stick with the program.
Another tip: Don’t work out with the mentality that you can eat whatever you want because you’re working out. Trust me, you’re not burning as many calories as you think. For me, exercise has boosted my metabolism, so I burn more just sitting. But exercise is also a great stress relief for me. It’s my time. It’s the first thing I do every moment and it sets the tone for the day. One healthy choice leads to more healthy choices.
What’s your favorite type of exercise? I’m a gym rat. Cycle, body sculpt, pilates and the elliptical are my friends.
What your favorite pancake topping? Almond butter. Duh.
