Let’s rewind to Tuesday…
12:30ish pm (I’m at home eating lunch, Big Guy calls) - Hey. (Big Guy) - Hey! How are you? (yes, very typical thus far) - Great. I’m in the top three. (Big Guy) - What are you talking about? (me, verrrrrrrrrry confused) - Clay shooting. (Big Guy) - Excuse me? I thought you were working. (me, still confused) - I am. It’s called networking. (Big Guy) - (me, speechless)Does anyone else every try to spell “speechless” with a “peach” in the middle?
7:23pm Tuesday night (I’m just returning home from working late.)
- I won an award. (Big Guy – very excited)
- That’s great. I’m hungry. (me. hungry.)
- Don’t you want to know what it’s for? (Big Guy, heartbroken)
- What did you win an award for? (me. still hungry.)
- Clay shooting. (Big Guy)
- Oh yea, that think you called “work.” (me. hungry.)
- Where can we hang it? (Big Guy – still excited)
- Anywhere you want. (me. hungry. not really listening anymore.)
7:32pm Tuesday night (The stove is turned on and we’re making dinner.)
- I won an award today. (Big Guy)
- I know. Do you want to show me again? (me. trying not to break his heart, even though I’m still hungry.)
- I got an award for clay shooting. (Big Guy)
- Want me to take a picture? (kind of sarcastic, kind of serious, Obviously, a picture was taken.
That, my friends, is a typical conversation for us two. I’m usually hungry and he’s, well, usually enlightening me about something interesting in the world.
And because he puts up with my hangry (hungry and angry, folks) ways, here’s a cookie Big Guy adored. Spicy Oatmeal Crisps.
